The 60-30-10 Rule for Colour
Colour feels like guesswork until you borrow a proportion the professionals use. Give sixty per cent of the room to a dominant colour, usually the walls, thirty per cent to a secondary one in the large furnishings, and ten per cent to an accent in cushions, art and smaller pieces. The split stops a scheme looking bland or busy.
