Mix Old and New for Character
A room furnished entirely from one shop, in one delivery, tends to read like a catalogue page. The spaces people fall in love with usually mix styles and eras, because it makes a room feel collected over time rather than bought in a weekend.
You only need one or two pieces to do it. Put an older, characterful item into a modern room, such as a vintage chair, an old mirror or a charity shop find. Or go the other way and set one clean modern piece among period furniture. The contrast makes both the old and the new look better.
Choose old pieces for a shape you like rather than a perfect match. A single chair with some history beside new furniture does more for a room's character than a whole matching set.
