Scandinavian Design Is About Light, Not White
Scandinavian design gets copied as a colour scheme, white walls and pale wood, and then people wonder why the result looks like a showroom. The palette is a consequence, not the idea. The style began as an answer to long, dark winters, so every choice is about moving what little light there is around a room.
Start with where the light falls. Use pale surfaces to bounce the daylight around, and low warm lamps for the hours after dark. Keep window dressings light so they let daylight in, and keep only what does a job.
Copy the reasoning and the palette follows. In a north-facing British house, that means deciding where the light comes from and where it goes before you choose a single colour.
