Most Good Rooms Are Two Styles
A room done in exactly one style tends to look like a catalogue page: correct, complete and slightly airless. The rooms people stop and admire are usually two things at once, held in tension, and that tension is what stops a room looking bought.
Pick the style you keep returning to and let it lead on the big pieces. Then deliberately add one thing that argues with it, in roughly a quarter of the room. Mid-century furniture in a Victorian room works. So does something rough set against something polished, or one old piece among new ones.
Keep a link between the two styles, such as a shared colour or material, so the contrast looks chosen rather than accidental. That link is what holds the room together.
