Design Process
Although painting walls white might seem like the easy choice for an interior designer, choosing the perfect white is an art in itself. “Pure white” is almost never used, so the designer must consider warm/cool tones, tints, glossy/matte finishes, and how all of these will be affected by the lighting of the space.
I was thrilled to be asked to take on a full house colour consultation - a paid job for a 'real' client … I rose to the challenge and found the entire process flowed relatively easily with the help of all the various course notes.
Since completing the course, I’ve taken significant steps toward expanding my design practice. I plan to launch ‘Be Inspired’, my own interior design consultancy offering creative, tailored solutions with a unique blend of fashion, forward-thinking and artistic vision.
The course offered by the British College of Interior Design covers everything you would need to know to start a career as an interior designer - whether that be starting your own business, working for an established interior design firm or working elsewhere in the industry.
I have been making professional floor plans and 3D visualisations for quite some time. My graphic background and photography experience eventually led me to the field of interior design. I was looking for something with which I could bundle, connect and expand the separate elements I offer my clients.
The hands-on projects helped me build confidence, and the expert guidance from instructors made learning both enjoyable and practical.
