I have had a keen interest in drawing since I was a little girl. I have always been especially interested in all the disciplines around the design world – from buildings to clothing to furniture and back to interior design. I graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid as an architect and after a few months working in Madrid, I had the chance to move to London to work on the Airport Terminal 2 (Queen´s terminal) project with Luis Vidal + Architects.
Deciding to stay in London, I started working at Rabih Hage Ltd developing high-end residential projects and which gave me the chance to focus on the part of architecture I like the most – interior design. Relocating to Seoul to start a family was a great experience that not only allowed me to be inspired by the Asian culture but I could also witness the diverse architectural styles from the different countries we visited on this side of the world.
During the first few months in Seoul, I enjoyed some free time, looking for new projects and learning experiences. It was the perfect moment for me to pursue additional courses and extend the knowledge on the endless aspects of interior design. I did some research to find the best courses and The British College of Interior Design persuaded me from the beginning. The flexibility of the course was outstanding, with adaptable deadlines and the possibility to do it by distance learning. Finally, receiving training from a very reputable British school was the trigger to sign up.
I was happy to find all the documentation on each unit was clear and easy to follow. The information contains a reference library that still today I can look up whenever I work on a new project. I would also like to acknowledge the kindness of the whole team – from the person I first contacted for the initial information, to my tutor who always took the time to answer to my questions. Moreover, the College has still kept in touch years after I finished the course. The assignments were very interesting and the problems were very realistic. I was highly motivated to use these new skills and this gave me the confidence to get back in touch with Rabih Hage Ltd.
What started as a casual collaboration, developed into a full-time remote job. This was a perfect scenario to put into practice what I had learned from the course in every new project that we engaged in. These activities have been very broad, from emergency houses and sustainable shelter competitions to high-end developments in three different continents.
I highly recommend The Professional Interior Design Course to anyone interested in interior design, whether it is a personal interest, a professional need or just looking to follow their dreams designing their ideal house.
