My company has been entrusted to handle a lot of high end projects for private residential homes, religious homes, blue chip companies, and government premises. Our biggest single cheque grossed over 50 million naira (approximately £120,000)!

I started out as an insurance underwriter with an attractive salary and commission package, yet I still didn’t feel complete.  I needed to take the bold step to follow my passion – interior design. With a well-paying job and a promising career, it was a scary prospect to pursue my passion, but at the same time, exciting.

I knew that if I wanted to be taken seriously as an interior designer, I would need to get some formal education. With this, I searched online for interior design schools and found the British College of Interior Design. I read through the course outline and the fees and payment terms were friendly. I thought to give it a try.

Simon Savage, my course tutor, and the College staff were prompt with assignment feedback and replies to my questions.

Completing the course gave me the confidence to launch out and start up my interior design business!

I beam whenever I hear myself use words like floor coverings, ergonomics, window treatments and all the professional words I muster in my everyday job now. I sound proficient and professional, and can easily communicate effectively with everyone, from my clients all the way through to architects and builders.

When I started getting commissioned jobs (or on the few occasions I was at a loss on how to move forward with a project), I have gone back to my course notes. They are the best resource materials I have ever had and provide me with ongoing assistance. The course notes are very detailed and explanatory.

My company has been entrusted to handle a lot of high end projects for private residential homes, religious homes, blue chip companies, and government premises. Our biggest single cheque grossed over 50 million naira (that’s approximately £120,000)!

We are also taking it further by educating on the benefits of recycling, green living and sustainable environment, and we are currently raising a campaign promoting the use of processed wood and the dangers inherent in using fire wood to our eyes, health and environment.

We hope to someday have an online interior magazine and a television series.

Thank you to The British College of Interiors Design for giving me the voice and platform. Remember, nothing good ever comes easy, work for it, pursue it. I DID.
