The Professional Interior Design Course helped me understand many aspects of interior design that I hadn’t even considered. I’d always loved designing interiors in my own home but worried that I would not be able to design other looks that differed from my own personal taste. The course gave me the confidence to research different styles and apply these to meet a client’s brief.
Using the information provided in the tutorials, I was fully able to tackle the course assignments and at the same time, build a great knowledge of interior design. The course allowed me to pace my studies to suit my lifestyle, so I did not feel that at any point I had too much on my plate. After completing an assignment it was easy to submit it via email and a few days later, a detailed analysis of my assignment from my tutor would be emailed back to me. This really helped me understand areas I needed to revise and improve my knowledge on, or to look at from a different perspective.
Since completing the course, I have set up my own interior design consultancy, Richard James Interiors, in Sussex where I can easily access the latest design styles in London. I have been employed by a couple purchasing a new build house. I have also created designs for a large family living and dining room with geometric wallpaper. Another project involved designing a children’s bedroom inspired by enchanted forest wallpaper.
The course has given me all the tools I needed to do this, from teaching me how to meet a brief to keeping track of the costings for a project. It covers professional practice for interior designers and I feel well equipped for the future.
