“This course equipped me with the best and most effective tools for working in the field of interior decoration. [It] has allowed me to achieve a level of learning, confidence and maturity that marked the turning point in my design career.”

Since I was a child, teaching had been my ambition and with a degree in Portuguese studies, it was my first passion. It’s interesting that I find myself working in interior design and feeling as though this is my true professional destiny.

My path to a career in interior design was not a logical or liner one.  I have worked in a number of different fields, from education and teaching, to trade and sales, merchandising and now, interior design. I have undertaken various studies in interior design since 2008 and I can say that one of the most important and beneficial courses I have done has been The Professional Interior Design Course from the British College of Interior Design.

This course equipped me with the best and most effective tools for working in the field of interior decoration. This course has allowed me to achieve a level of learning, confidence and maturity that marked the turning point in my design career.

I live in Portugal and one major benefit of this course was to be able to do it online. The course is beautifully organized and structured. I always received the course tutorials on time and always received answers to any questions I had. The College staff are fabulous and offer amazing availability and support.

When I commenced my studies with the British College of Interior Design I started working in different companies in the interior design sector. I believe the prestige and recognition that the British College of Interior Design has internationally allowed me to access some of these companies and for them to consider me seriously. My resume was complete with this course added and was instrumental in progressing my interior design and decoration career. One of the companies I worked with is based in Portugal and has decoration shops in several cities, including London. It was an incredible experience working with a company of this level.

In addition to these projects, I was putting into practice my knowledge of working as a free-lance designer, first for friends, then to friends of friends, and word of mouth grew from there. Today I have a successful freelance interior design and decoration business and this year I plan to open my own design studio and store.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the British College of Interior Design for everything I’ve learned. To all of you who have an interest of learning or working as an interior designer doing the course is a wonderful kick start to your career.
