Accreditation from academic leaders

The British College of Interior Design and the Professional Interior Design Course are approved with the International Accreditation & Recognition Council (IARC). Click here to view our listing.

The IARC provides a recognition and accreditation system, for distinguishing quality post secondary education, including vocational education, distance education, adult and continuing education.

IARC works with participating institutions across the world including the United States, Europe, Asia and Australasia. This accreditation brings recognition of the College having met criteria in the areas of administration, course content, and course delivery and student assessment.

This interior design course is also recognised throughout the industry as providing appropriate training for the field interior design. In fact, many of the UK’s leading designers are contributors to this interior design course.

The international recognition and accreditation that this course offers serves both our local and international students. In this way, this interior design course allows students to use their internationally recognised accreditation both in the UK and abroad.

About the IARC

The IARC are a private organisation that is made up by members in the pursuit of better education standards for all. The board members put their names and reputations on the line with each and every course they approve so though they are not governed by an official organisation such as a government education department, it could be fair to say they are more invested in ensuring quality than your average government organisation.

Qualification required to work as an interior designer

You may also be interested to know that interior design is actually an unregulated industry. This means that you need not have any professional qualification or memberships to official (or non-official) bodies or associations in order to work in the industry.

Many professional interior designers are self-taught or simply have a natural flair. You will find what you ‘can do’ is far more highly regarding in the industry than any qualification you can obtain.  People want to see skills demonstrated more than a piece of paper recognising some a qualification.

That’s why our course is intensely focused on the practical side of interior design. The assignments you complete throughout the course will go a long way towards forming the backbone of your professional portfolio that you will then be able to show to potential clients and employers in the future.
